Tortoise, in my opinion, is one of the most influential post-rock bands to be around today. Hailing from Chicago, they gained notoriety with their ‘96 release “Millions Now Living Will Never Die”. That release took over the post-rock scene making many people’s top year-end lists. Their latest actual release “It’s All Around You” is just as good as that ‘96 release.

They are mainly an instrumental group, producing such entrancing songs as the 20 minute epic “Djed”. This masterpiece proves that you can tell stories without lyrics.

Other than that there isn’t much more to say, they leave me speechless at times. Check them out, also keep a look out…they posted on their Myspace that they are working on a new album.
