<p style="text-align: center;">A lot of you have been having problems with my guide, and i&#8217;m sorry but I never knew it would get such fanatical response. I just wrote it for anyone, but at the time no one read my blog. Anyway here is the guide.</p>
<p><span id="more-17"></span></p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>GUIDE FOR MAC OS X 10.5 VIA BUILT-IN BLUETOOTH<br />
</strong></span></h3>
<p><strong>Step 1.</strong> <em>Necessary Equipment.</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. Samsung u470 &#8220;Juke&#8221; Phone.</p>
<p>2. Mac (i&#8217;ll be using a Macbook)</p>
<p>3. OS X Built-in Bluetooth</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 2. </strong><em>Downloading Necessary Files </em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. <a href="http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bitpim/TIGER-bitpim-1.0.5_1.dmg?download" target="_blank">BitPim</a></p>
<p>2. <a href="http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/mac" target="_blank">Audacity</a> (with <a href="http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/" target="_blank">Lame MP3 Encoder</a>)</p>
<p>3. <a href="http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffitexpander/index.html" target="_blank">Stuffit</a></p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 3. </strong><em>Setting up your phone for bluetooth transfer </em>(Follow Exactly)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>*I&#8217;m sorry for those of you who do not have built-in bluetooth, I tried to search how to do this with the USB cable but came up short, If you know email me or comment here*</strong></em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. To setup your phone you need to put your phone in &#8220;Discovery mode&#8221;. After that open up Bluetooth Preferences and click the &#8220;+&#8221; button at the bottom of the window.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-111.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-206 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-1" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>2. After you click the &#8220;+&#8221; a new window will pop up click continue and select &#8220;Any Device&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-211.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-207 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-2" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-2-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>3. After that you&#8217;ll see your phone, as long as it still in &#8220;Discovery Mode&#8221;, Click on it and proceed.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-311.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-medium wp-image-208 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-3" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-3-300x201.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="201" /></a></p>
<p>4. You should see it trying to gather information on your phone, after that a message will pop up on your phone asking you if you want to accept the connection. Click yes then you should see a &#8220;Passkey&#8221; entry, I typically use four zeros &#8220;0000&#8243;. Whatever you use remember it.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-411.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-209 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-4" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-4-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>5. You&#8217;ll see it asking for the passkey you just put into your phone on-screen. Enter the passkey and click continue.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-511.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-210 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-5" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-5-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>6. You should see it determining what services are available for your phone, if any, don&#8217;t worry about this just hit continue. It should tell you your phone has been setup and a serial port has been added, this is important.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-611.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-212 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-6" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-6-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>7. Click Quit and now your phone should be setup, but there is still one more thing to do. Once you get back to the Bluetooth Preferences window, click the button next to the &#8220;-&#8221; button it should look like a gear, and make sure your settings are like mine.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-811.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-214 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bluetooth-setup-8" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bluetooth-setup-8-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>8. Congrats that&#8217;s it your phone linked via bluetooth to your computer.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 4. </strong><em>Installing the software</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. You need to download and install Stuffit, don&#8217;t worry it&#8217;s free.</p>
<p>2. Download and install Bitpim&#8230;.simple enough.</p>
<p>3. Download Audacity, mount the dmg, and create a new folder called &#8220;Audacity&#8221; in your application directory.</p>
<p>4. Go ahead and copy the stuff in the dmg into the &#8220;Audacity&#8221; folder you just created.</p>
<p>5. Now go download the Lame MP3 Encoder, this is also where you need Stuffit.</p>
<p>6. Extract the zip file, and copy the &#8220;libmp3lame.dylib&#8221; and paste it into the &#8220;plug-ins&#8221; folder in your recently created &#8220;Audacity&#8221; folder.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/software-install-111.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-215 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="software-install-1" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/software-install-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>7. Everything should be installed now to set everything up.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 5.</strong> <em>Configuring all the software.</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. Open up Audacity, and decide what song you want to have as a ringtone. After that edit it down to around 30 sec., and click Export as MP3, it will ask you to find the &#8220;libmp3lame.dylib&#8221; which should be in your &#8220;plug-ins&#8221; folder in the &#8220;Audacity&#8221; folder in Applications. It will also ask you to convert it, I usually just select 128kbps and convert.</p>
<p>2. I would save your newly created mp3 to your desktop.</p>
<p>3. Now open up BitPim, It will try to auto-detect your phone but it won&#8217;t be able to.</p>
<p>4. Click the Screwdriver and Wrench icon in the BitPim toolbar, and Change your phone type to SCH-u470.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bitpim-setup-111.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-216 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bitpim-setup-1" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bitpim-setup-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>5. Your not done with this yet. In the BitPim Settings window, across from where it says Com Port click &#8220;Browse&#8230;&#8221; and choose &#8220;SCH-u470-SerialPort-1&#8243;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bitpim-setup-211.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-217 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="bitpim-setup-2" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/bitpim-setup-2-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 6.</strong> <em>Downloading and Uploading Ringtones and Pictures.</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. Now your done with the settings, exit that window and click the icon that has a <strong>phone with an arrow going out of it</strong>. Click the check box next to everything you&#8217;d like for it to download to your computer in BitPims database, then click OK. It will begin to download what you checked.</p>
<p>2. Once it&#8217;s done, expand &#8220;Media&#8221; and click &#8220;Ringers&#8221;, then click the icon with a <strong>musical note with a + on it</strong>. Browse to your song, and choose it. *NOTE* For wallpapers or pictures, just click &#8220;Images&#8221; instead and click the <strong>picture with a + on it</strong> and choose your image.</p>
<p>3. Once your done adding all your ringtones (or pictures), click the <strong>phone with an arrow going into it</strong>. Click the checkbox next to what you just changed and whether to &#8220;add&#8221; or &#8220;replace all&#8221;. Then click OK. It will begin to upload all the changes to your phone.</p>
<p>4. Once it&#8217;s done uploading, your phone will automatically reset and all your ringers (or pictures) will be available on your phone. <strong>Congrats!</strong></p></blockquote>

<blockquote><p>1. Samsung u470 &#8220;Juke&#8221; Phone</p>
<p>2. A PC Desktop or Laptop with one available USB port</p>
<p>3. The provided USB cable</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 2. </strong><em>Downloading Necessary Files (DO NOT RUN ANY) </em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. <a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/samsung-usb-driver-mcci-434-whql-v30.zip" target="_blank">Samsung USB Driver (MCCI 4.34) WHQL v3.0.zip</a></p>

<p><strong> Step 3. </strong><em>Installing the Software</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. Extract the Samsung Drivers folder to your desktop and run the Setup. You may have to restart, if so, do it.</p>
<p>2. After you restart, install BitPim. Not hard at all.</p>
<p>3. Then install Audacity. This is for editing your songs down to little 30 sec. clips.</p>
<p>4. To export your newly edited music, you&#8217;ll need to also need the Lame MP3 Encoder, so extract that from the zip to your desktop as well.</p>
<p>5. You will need to drag and drop the &#8220;Lame_enc.dll&#8221; into your Audacity Plug-in folder.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-software-setup-111.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-243 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-software-setup-1" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-software-setup-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>6. Everything should be installed now.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 4.</strong> <em>Configuring the Software</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1. Open up Audacity, and decide what song you want to have as a ringtone. After that edit it down to around 30 sec., and click Export as MP3, it will ask you to find the &#8220;lame_enc.dll&#8221; which should be in your &#8220;plug-ins&#8221; folder in the &#8220;Audacity&#8221; folder in Program Files.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-software-setup-211.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-236 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-software-setup-2" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-software-setup-2-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>2. I would save your newly created mp3 to your desktop.</p>
<p>3. Now open up BitPim, It may try to auto-detect your phone but it won&#8217;t be able to.</p>
<p>4. We are about to connect the phone to the USB cable but before we do we must change an internal setting in the phone. Hit &#8220;Menu&#8221;, and go to &#8220;Settings &amp; Tools&#8221; (or hit 6) and hit the &#8220;#&#8221; key, it will ask for a 6 digit password, it should be six zeros &#8220;000000&#8243;. <strong>Be very careful not to change anything else here.</strong> Go to &#8220;MTP Settings&#8221; (or hit 3) and select &#8220;MSM&#8221;. This will allow your phone&#8217;s modem port to kick in. After that hit &#8220;End&#8221; and you should see a message that says &#8220;<strong>Music Sync Not Allowed</strong>&#8220;. If you see that then your good to go.</p>
<p>5. Connect the phone to the USB cable.</p>
<p>6. Click the Screwdriver and Wrench icon in the BitPim toolbar, and Change your phone type to SCH-u470.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-111.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-237 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-1" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-1-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>7. Your not done with this yet. In the BitPim Settings window, across from where it says Com Port click &#8220;Browse&#8230;&#8221; and choose &#8220;SAMSUNG CDMA Modem Diagnostic Serial Port (WDM)&#8221;.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-211.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-238 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-2" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-2-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
</blockquote>
<p><strong>Step 5.</strong> <em>Uploading and Downloading Ringtones and Pictures.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-311.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-239 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-3" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-3-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>2. Once it&#8217;s done, expand &#8220;Media&#8221; and click &#8220;Ringers&#8221;, then click the icon with a <strong>musical note with a + on it</strong>. Browse to your song, and choose it. It will also ask you to convert it, I usually just select 128kbps and convert. *NOTE* For wallpapers or pictures, just click &#8220;Images&#8221; instead and click the <strong>picture with a + on it</strong> and choose your image.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-411.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-240" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-4" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-4-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><br />
(Before)</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-511.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-241" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-5" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-5-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><br />
(After)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">3. <em>Yeah, I know my song choice was nerdy but it&#8217;s a demo.</em> Once your done adding all your ringtones (or pictures), click the <strong>phone with an arrow going into it</strong>. Click the checkbox next to what you just changed and whether to &#8220;add&#8221; or &#8220;replace all&#8221;. Then click OK. It will begin to upload all the changes to your phone.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-611.jpg" rel='lytebox[custom-ringtones-on-the-samsung-sch-u470-juke]'><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-242 aligncenter" style="border: 1px solid black;" title="win-bitpim-setup-6" src="http://localretard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/win-bitpim-setup-6-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>4. Once it&#8217;s done uploading, your phone will automatically shut off. Unplug it and turn it back on.</p>
<p>5. Now we need to do one last step, turn off the &#8220;MSM&#8221; and get rid of the &#8220;Music Sync Not Allow&#8221; Message. Click &#8220;Menu&#8221;, and go back to &#8220;Settings &amp; Tools&#8221; (or hit 6) and hit the &#8220;#&#8221; key. The password should be six zeros &#8220;000000&#8243;. Click &#8220;MTP Setting&#8221; (or hit 3). Now select &#8220;MTP&#8221;. After that hit &#8220;End&#8221; and you shouldn&#8217;t see that message anymore and your phone will work normally.</p>
<p>6. You should see all your ringtones and pictures in their respective places now. <strong>Congrats!</strong></p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><strong>*NOTE: You must change the MTP Setting back and forth everytime you want to add new things to your phone*</strong></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Comment or Email me if I missed something. Thanks!</p>
